Survivors of Institutional Abuse (SIA) is a nonprofit organization that  is dedicated to empower and aid in the healing of adults who have been subject to emotional, physical or sexual abuse in private or government institutions, detention centers or foster care.
SIA Strives to educate and empower the public with vital information about Institutional Abuse.
SIA advocates for the rights of youth and the disabled by supporting legislation aimed to protect against abuse in residential programs.
SIA provides support for survivors of institutional abuse and holds an annual convention to encourage healing, awareness and advocacy.
Many adults that have been subject to institutional child abuse share feelings of severe depression, PTSD, and many other child trauma related diagnoses.
Many struggle to understand who they are and where they belong, and have difficulty trusting and relating to others. SIA provides resources for survivors to participate in advocacy, raising awareness, reunite with others, meetings/groups, and find support in healing.
